Sunday Bag

About a week ago, I went through the abyss where I keep all my fabric and sewing/stitching supplies.  I can't call it a room, or even a corner.  It's kind of a wall, with some shelves and a table that just collects things on it.  I don't even sew in that area!  I take my sewing machine upstairs and sew at the kitchen table.

Anyway, I decided I need to finish a LOT of my projects.  This is the year I intend to finish everything!  I have so many half-started projects.  SO MANY.  I would make a list, but I did that last year and had about 25 things on it...and I only added to it, I'm pretty sure I didn't finish anything on that list last year.

It's what I do. Hence the blog title.

One of the half finished projects I had was this bag.  I decided it was going to become my Sunday bag!  At my local church I teach Sunday school to a group of 10-11 year old girls.  So I have a binder with lesson plans, my scriptures, and various other random things depending on the week (snacks, pens, markers, etc).  And my old bag just wasn't cutting it anymore.  Plus it wasn't as cute as I wanted.

Here it is!  My new Sunday bag in all it's glory.

It's a fairly large bag.  Probably 20 inches across the top.  Fits a binder quite nicely!  And the fabric.  I just love the fabric.

I added a little pocket on the front, it's just big enough for my cell phone.  There are two large pockets inside, so I didn't feel the need to add anything extra.  But the pocket was an afterthought, once the outer bag was sewn together.  This made it a little difficult to sew the pocket on, but I managed!

At the bottom of the inside is a false bottom.  This makes it a little more sturdy when I add the heavier items inside of it.  Plus the contrast is fun!

Here's a link to the pattern I used, over on Sew Sweetness' blog.
